Conversations About Self-Respect and 'What to Wear'

Did you know that years ago, a small house was considered to be appropriate beach attire? Check out this video for more interesting information about the history of beach attire.

History of the Bikini  (9:30Min)

In this video, swimsuit designer, Jessica Rey, also shares some interesting research: When a male sees a girl wearing a revealing outfit he tends to think of her as an ‘object’, but when a girl is dressed in an outfit that covers her appropriately, he thinks more about her opinions and thoughts. Wow!

Even if you don't have time to watch the video together, here's a great discussion point for girls and their dads:

How can a father can lovingly let a daughter know if she is wearing something
that might cause a male to think disrespectfully about her?

Make a 'game plan' for how this could be communicated next time dad has a concern about daughter's outfit.

Want a chance to spend more quality time together ... including breakfast at Cora’s and Treetop Trekking? Take a picture of your father-daughter date during the month of February and post it on Barrie Pregnancy Resource Centre’s Contest Event Page. While your at it, make a donation to the important work of the centre. Help us help women, teens, families and babies!
